Hello, my name is Darrell. I’ve always been fascinated by construction—the craftsmanship and satisfaction of building something that lasts. I started as a self-employed contractor, wearing every hat and working tirelessly, but the long hours meant missing time with my kids. To find balance, I joined a restoration company, where I scaled a $10-million department in 4.5 years and learned the value of building sustainable systems.

In 2017, I launched The Built Group, combining my experience and a clear blueprint for success. For me, construction is about more than walls and floors—it’s about people. Whether restoring a home after a disaster or creating a dream space, I believe empathy and integrity make all the difference. At The Built Group, we bring decades of expertise and a client-first approach to deliver homes that families love to live in.

Meet COO Mark Michaliszyn

Hi, I’m Mark—a builder with deep roots in the Greater Toronto Area. My passion for construction began 25 years ago, working alongside my father in Port Credit and Lorne Park, helping build homes that shaped our family’s story. That early experience inspired a lifelong dedication to creating meaningful, lasting spaces. With formal training in Construction Engineering and a strong foundation in insurance restoration, I bring both practical expertise and personal care to every project.

Today, I serve as Chief Operating Officer at The Built Group. I love seeing each project come together—from the early planning to the final finishes. My goal is to turn dreams into reality through custom home building and renovations, and make the renovation process feel clear, honest, and well-managed.
